What are the Cheriton and Tichborne Trail Races?
The Cheriton and Tichborne Trail Races are a community event held on 28 June 2026 at 9:30 to raise money for Friends of Cheriton Primary School. There are three distances, 1k, 5k and 10k.
10 kilometre trail run
The 10k run starts from the Cheriton Primary School at 09:30 in the bucolic location of Cheriton and runs north west onto the South Downs Way, then into beautiful Tichborne and finishing back in Cheriton. Part of the run up to South Downs Way and the run through Tichborne is on road but the remaining 75% is on trails and public rights of way.
1 kilometre fun run
The 1k run consists of two laps around the cricket pitch and back into the race field. This can only be entered on the day. Individual race times will not be available for this event.
What does it cost to take part?
All entries to all races are free of charge. On entry you have the option to make a donation to help cover our costs and raise money for the Friends of Cheriton Primary School.
Will I get a time?
Yes.
To keep costs down, the races will not be using timing chips but will instead capture images of runners passing the start line. Runners' race numbers will be assigned starting position numbers and these will be attributed to offset start-times on the overall race time stopwatch.
Runners will be given a numbered token on finishing and assigned a finishing position which will be attributed to a time on the overall race time stopwatch.
Every entrant will receive an overall race time and an offset race time by email.
Is there a time I have to finish by?
Entrants will have 4 hours to complete the route, which should provide adequate time for walkers to complete the 10 kilometre route.
