Frequently asked questions
Entry
Entry is free for all participants but there is an option to make a donation of £5 or £15 per entry to help cover costs and raise money for the Friends of Cheriton Primary School. Donations can be made at sign up using the links at the top of the page. Please note that donations cannot be refunded.
Participants must be 16 years or older for the 10k races.
Children of any age may take part in the 1k event (which stays on the field) and may be accompanied by an adult if required. However we would ask that adults peel off before the finish and do not go through the finish funnel.
Route
The 5k and 10k routes are multi-terrain loops incorporating local footpaths, tracks, fields and road sections. There are a few stiles and kissing gates along the way. Please follow all instructions given by the marshals, especially on the road sections.
The routes are both challenging and undulating, with a few hilly sections! However you can enjoy spectacular views of the Hampshire countryside.
Please close any unmanned gates behind the last runner as you pass through. If you plan on using gels or other packaged supplements, please take all your litter home with you.
Parking
Parking is available either in the finish field or in the car park of The Flowerpots Pub.
All vehicles should follow parking signs and directions given by marshals.
Follow the signs/marshals to the race start.
If your route to the race start takes you past the cricket pitch please stay off the cricket square.
For Your Safety
The marshals are there to ensure your safety - if they ask to you to stop due to oncoming traffic please do so. The marshals will not be stopping traffic - only runners.
Headphones are not permitted on the route to ensure your safety, however we will accept bone conductor headphones.
These are multi-terrain cross-country routes and as such, the terrain is uneven, muddy in places and in the event of bad weather, some areas may be slippery. All entrants should wear appropriate footwear with laces securely tied and take care at all times, following warning signs and markers and following any instructions given by marshals.
Timings
Registration at Cheriton Primary School opens at 8:00 am and will close promptly at 9:15am. Upon arrival, please make your way to the registration tent to collect your race number.
Please note a free bag drop is available at the school but items are left at the owners' risk.
The 5k and 10k races will start at 9:30am. Please look out for pacers who will guide you towards your anticipate finish time, with fastest runners at the front and walkers towards the back.
The children's 1k event will start after other races have finished at approximately 12:00pm. This will allow parents to run in the earlier events, then watch their children in the on-field event.
